According to Sports City's most recent newsletter..."New research by IPG’s Initiative shows that the 2010 FIFA World Cup will achieve a record global viewership with audience figures rising by 5% compared to 2006.
An estimated 125 million people are expected to watch each match with the final set to be the most watched final in sporting history.
Italy’s penalty shoot-out victory against France in the 2006 final drew an average live audience of 322 million with a reach of 638 million.
This year’s tournament is also set to attract more female viewers with figures rising from 41% in 2006 to 42% this time around."
