The students were excited to finally be in Rio, where we headed straight to our hotel, which is sort of a sport resort compound about 20 miles from the city center. Outside of Maracana Stadium about three hours before the 7 p.m. start time. The announced attendance was 75,000, and as can be seen in this photo, the police and security presence was a show of force!
Tom Cowin, an avowed EPL Newcastle United supporter, shows his team's colors along with his commemorative FIFA World Cup shawl outside of Maracana Stadium.
All present and accounted for -- including Golden Bear -- behind the University's colors.
