In the lead up to the opening of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil June 12, media reports have chronicled the utter lack of preparation despite the massive spending making it the most expensive in history. The month-long tournament, of course, will indeed take place through July 13, but the jury is out whether the country -- and hence its people -- will be deemed to have delivered on its promise. Ten WNE students and two faculty chaperones will comprise part of that jury, and will get to see up close and personal, if the Brazilian joie de vivre for soccer lives up to its reputation.
