Sport and Nationality

According to CNN, in qualifying for this year's World Cup, nearly 10% of footballers played for countries in which they were not born.  While switching or acquiring nationalities is neither new nor peculiar to football, the practice raises questions worthy of discussion.  Your thoughts?
