Thursday, June 14

Joe G. was the early-to-breakfast man today and held space in the cafe for our morning seminar.
Connor and Ryan were first to present at morning seminar on their topic, "Impact of Athlete Doping Bans on Russian Sport."
Although none of the students joined Prof. Sugermeyer and me today for our morning run, the students got in a brief workout at a nearby football pitch.
Our students even made friends with a friendly Russian football player, who asked to be in our photo-op!
Team photo of the fearsome Golden Bear side!  (Note:  two players were missing due to a schedule mishap.)
Bears in warm-up drills while awaiting the Russian side for their morning friendly.
Steve plays "catch" with a friend.
The search for khachapuri has ended.  As good as advertised!
Prof. Sugermeyer at Luzhniki Stadium for the opening match of the 2018 World Cup!
A Golden Bear contingent "waves the flag" of WNE at the World Cup.
Joe K. sends his love from Russia.
While not physically present, Dr. Dan Covell was "virtually there," courtesy of Nate Wallek.
Kes sends love and kisses to her friends and family back home.
Only our second day in Russia, but Alex is already running low!
An added treat to attending Match 1 is the opening ceremonies that immediately precede the kick-off.  While not the spectacular productions that Olympic opening ceremonies have become, they are still fun to see and hear.
Ryan and Alex take in the view while sporting their Team Russia jerseys.
Nate gets to the bottom line.  Now that's what we're talking about!
Always and ever, Golden Bear was there, with Patrick, his keeper!
Steven and Patrick show their solidarity with Russia in hosting the World Cup.
"Dr. Covell" leads us out of the scrum after the match, attended by 81,000 people!

Honored to have my presence with you in Russia - hope I am as favorably received as Dr. caprio was in London during the 2012 Olympics -
